CONSIDERED INVESTING08CHAPTERS · ONE CONNECTED JOURNEY
This guide describes a proposed managed investment service: authorised order handling and related investment activity are carried out on the client’s behalf within an agreed mandate, even when individual execution steps are not displayed in real time.

Getting started
Your first steps, in the right order.
What should I prepare before opening an account?
Have your legal name, date of birth, residential address, contact details, and tax-residency information ready. Identity and address documents may be required, along with information about your employment and source of funds. Requirements depend on the contracting entity, country, and account type.
Use current, legible documents. Make sure your name and address are consistent across the application and supporting records. Never send identity documents through an unverified email or chat.
How do I create and complete my profile?
Open the registration page, enter your details, and review each section before submitting. Read the account terms and disclosures, and answer experience or appropriateness questions accurately. Submission does not automatically mean approval.
If additional information is requested, respond through the official account channel. Do not fund an account until it has been approved and you have verified its funding instructions.
What if my application is still under review?
Check for outstanding document requests and confirm that your contact information is correct. Review times vary with verification requirements; no fixed approval time is promised here.
If the status is unclear, contact support with your application reference. Do not create duplicate applications unless the operating firm instructs you to do so.
Sign-in & security
Protect access before you add funds.
How should I secure my account?
Use a unique password and enable multi-factor authentication wherever the operating platform supports it. Keep recovery information current and store recovery codes securely, separate from your password.
Use the Security page to review the available settings.
What should I do if I cannot sign in?
Confirm the website address and your login details, then use the password-recovery route if needed. If an authentication device is unavailable, follow the provider’s verified account-recovery process rather than repeatedly guessing codes.
Support should never ask for your password, full authentication code, or remote control of your device to release investment funds.
What if I suspect unauthorised access?
Contact the operating firm immediately through a known channel. Ask about restricting account activity, review recent transactions, and secure the email account linked to your profile. Change compromised credentials through the official website.
Keep relevant messages and transaction references. Treat unexpected beneficiary changes and requests for advance “release fees” as reasons to stop and verify.
Funding & currency
Know where your money is going.
How do I find the correct funding instructions?
After approval, open the funding page and select the available currency and payment method. Verify the beneficiary, bank details, payment reference, account-name requirements, and any intermediary instructions shown by the provider.
The existing Deposit route is retained as the funding entry point. No bank details are supplied here, and no transfer is initiated by this guide.
Why has a transfer not appeared in my balance?
Check the sending bank’s status, transfer date, currency, and payment reference. Bank processing, compliance checks, weekends, holidays, and currency conversion can affect timing. A payment receipt does not confirm that funds are available to trade.
Contact support with the transfer reference and relevant dates if needed. Avoid sending another payment until the first transfer has been traced.
How do USD balances and currency conversion work?
A USD reporting value is not necessarily the currency in which each asset or cash balance is held. Before an overseas investment, check the dealing currency and whether conversion is automatic or requires a separate instruction.
Review the applicable FX rate, spread, and conversion charge. Exchange-rate movements can change the USD value of an investment even when its local share price is unchanged.
Research & watchlists
Understand the security behind the symbol.
How do I identify the correct investment?
Check the company or fund name, ticker, exchange, security type, and dealing currency. Similar names and multiple listings can refer to different instruments. Use the instrument identifier where available.
For funds, review the share class, domicile, distribution policy, underlying index, and ongoing charges. Do not select an instrument solely because its ticker looks familiar.
What should I research before buying a share?
Review the business model, revenue, profitability, cash flow, debt, competitive position, and valuation. Consider both the opportunity and what could undermine your thesis. Compare information from company filings and other reliable sources.
A watchlist helps organise ideas; it is not a recommendation or an instruction to trade. Decide what would make an investment suitable for your own objectives and capacity for loss.
Does the investment scope include alternatives?
Yes. The company model includes agribusiness, medical and life sciences, and other alternative opportunities alongside listed equity investments. The sector label alone does not tell you whether an investment is a listed security, private placement, fund, or direct project.
Review the specific offering terms, eligibility, fees, governance, valuation, holding period, and exit restrictions. Private investments can be highly illiquid and may result in total loss. No specific opportunity or return is promised.
What risks matter for agribusiness and medical science?
Agribusiness requires assessment of operations, weather, commodity exposure, land rights, and supply chains. Medical and life-science opportunities can depend on research outcomes, clinical evidence, regulatory review, intellectual property, and future funding.
A promising sector is not proof of a successful investment. Request the investment documents and sector-specific risk disclosures before committing capital.
Are the homepage market prices live?
No. The homepage displays sourced historical closing prices in USD, with the observation date and source shown. Its chart plots historical daily closes, not intraday trading or an Dornoch portfolio return.
Check the timestamp and data entitlement of any quote before trading. Delayed or closing prices can differ from the price available for execution.
Orders & execution
Handled on your behalf, within an agreed mandate.
Can an order be partially filled?
An order may execute in several parts, at different prices, or remain partly unfilled. The investment team monitors execution on your behalf within the agreed mandate.
A partial fill does not give the client a right to cancel the remaining instruction under the proposed service policy. Final treatment depends on order duration, venue rules, and applicable terms.
What is the difference between market and limit orders?
A market order prioritises execution at the best available price, without guaranteeing that price. A limit order sets the maximum purchase price or minimum sale price you accept, but may remain unfilled.
Liquidity, volatility, order size, and trading session can affect execution. Available order types and sessions depend on the provider and instrument.
Who carries out order actions and investment activity?
Under the proposed managed-service model, the investment team carries out order placement, monitoring, and related investment activity on your behalf, within the authority and risk limits agreed in your mandate. Clients are not expected to operate an order ticket for every trade.
Some execution steps may not appear on the client dashboard in real time. That does not replace the need for activity records, transaction confirmations where applicable, regular reporting, and a way to ask questions.
Can I cancel or amend an order or trade once placed?
Under Dornoch’s proposed service policy, an order or trade instruction cannot be cancelled or amended by the client once placed. Review the commitment before authorising it. Placement is not a guarantee of execution or settlement; venue rules and any mandatory legal rights still apply.
An order may still be rejected, expire unfilled, or execute only in part under its terms. These outcomes do not create a client cancellation facility. Ask the team to clarify the commitment before placement; a later sale or redemption is a separate transaction with its own risks, costs, and restrictions.
Do I need to see every trade happening to stay informed?
The intended experience lets you delegate day-to-day order handling rather than watch each execution step. Peace of mind should come from an agreed mandate, understandable reporting, and responsive support—not from assuming that activity has occurred when it is not visible.
Ask for the relevant transaction record or status if something is unclear. A missing dashboard entry is not proof that an order has been placed, filled, or settled. Live trading and reporting must be implemented and verified before launch. Client instructions cannot be cancelled or amended after placement under the proposed service policy.
Portfolio & records
Keep performance in context.
How should I read my portfolio value?
Distinguish cash, market value of holdings, unsettled transactions, and any liabilities. Prices and FX rates can change the reported total. A displayed account value is not always the amount available for immediate withdrawal.
Review the valuation timestamp, currency, and any data limitations. Reconcile unexpected changes against transactions, deposits, withdrawals, and corporate actions.
What is the difference between a gain and a return?
An unrealised gain compares a current valuation with an acquisition cost, subject to the provider’s calculation method. A realised gain follows a sale. A portfolio return also depends on how contributions, withdrawals, fees, income, and currencies are treated.
Understand whether performance is net or gross of costs and whether it includes dividends. A security price change is not the same as a client’s investment return.
What records should I keep?
Retain statements, trade confirmations, cash movements, fee details, and corporate-action notices. Review dividends and withholding taxes and reconcile records periodically. Tax documents depend on your account and jurisdiction.
Their original data model must be adapted before they can serve as equity trade confirmations or tax records.
Withdrawals & settlement
Available cash and account value are different.
How quickly are withdrawals processed?
Under the proposed service model, withdrawals of eligible, cleared cash are usually instant, but may take a few hours depending on transaction execution, required checks, currency conversion, and payment processing. This is an indicative service expectation, not a guaranteed arrival time.
Funds still invested, awaiting settlement, subject to a hold, or committed to an illiquid alternative investment are not immediately available to withdraw. Asset sales, redemptions, bank delays, or additional review can take longer. Check the available-to-withdraw balance and the status of your request.
Why can I not withdraw the full account value?
Holdings normally need to be sold before proceeds become cash. Settlement, deposit holds, open orders, fees, and account restrictions can affect the amount eligible to withdraw. Check available-to-withdraw cash rather than total portfolio value.
Execution and settlement are separate events. Settlement schedules vary by product, market, and holiday calendar; check the actual transaction confirmation and provider rules.
How should I review a withdrawal request?
Use the official withdrawal page and verify the beneficiary account, name, currency, amount, and estimated fees. Follow any account-ownership verification requirements and review the final instruction carefully.
Never use bank details received through an unexpected message without independently verifying them.
How can I follow up on a withdrawal?
Review its status and reference in withdrawal history. Distinguish pending review, processing, sent, rejected, and completed states where the provider uses them. Eligible cash withdrawals are usually instant under the proposed service model, but may take a few hours for execution checks and payment processing. A sent status may precede the receiving bank’s credit; some requests can take longer.
If a request is delayed, contact support with the reference, request date, and currency. Do not share full payment credentials or authentication codes.
Profile & support
Keep your details current. Ask early.
How do I update my personal information?
Use the profile page to review the available fields. Changes to your name, residential address, tax residency, or bank details may require supporting evidence and additional verification.
Check whether a change affects account eligibility or tax reporting. Do not overwrite an account field with invented information to bypass a verification request.
What should I include in a support request?
Describe what you were trying to do, what happened, the approximate time, and any relevant reference number. Include a redacted screenshot if useful and supported by the service.
Do not send passwords, authentication codes, full card details, or unnecessary identity documents.
How do I raise a complaint?
Use the firm’s published complaints procedure and provide a clear account of the issue and outcome sought. Keep copies of correspondence and responses. Applicable response deadlines and independent escalation routes must be specified by the actual regulated entity.
No complaint-handling times or ombudsman eligibility are assumed for this fictional firm.
